Lhuntse Valley

Lhuentse also known as ‘Kurtoe’ is one of the most isolated rural districts of Eastern Bhutan. 76kms away from Mongar, Lhuentse is the ancestral home of Wangchhuk dynasty, the only royal family in the country. The place is also very well known in the country for its distinctive traditional hand-loomed products such as Kishuthara, which is considered the best in the nation. Not only this, Lhuentse is a hub of sacred temples and sites that has long histories of how Buddhism found its place in Bhutan.
You can also find Dungkhar Ngatshang here, which is the ancestral house of one of the noblest lineages known as ‘Dungkhar Chojie’from Kurtoe which is the direct lineage of Trongsa Penlop Jigme Namgyal, the father of the Wangchuck dynasty.
