Punakha Valley

In the last few years, Punakha has become one of the most visited places by tourists as well as locals. Sited on an elevation of 4,100f, Punakaha is a beautiful valley at the junction of the Mo Chhu (Female River) and Pho Chhu (Male River).

One of the most beautiful sights in Punakha is Punakha Dzong located at the confluence of Pho Chhu and Mo Chhu. The dzong other than serving as the administrative office of the district, it also serves as the winter residence of the monastic body’s leader and his entourage of monks. Chime Lhakhang is also one of the must visit temple in the district.

The warm weather, kind people and beautiful sceneries shall immediately put you at home. The climate here encourages rice cultivation and growing fruits like oranges, mangoes and bananas.
