169 feet tall, the Statue of Buddha Dordenma surrounded by 125,000 miniature Buddhas is one of the tallest statues in the world. The statue was constructed in the year 2015 with an expenditure of 100 million to honor the 60th birthday of His Majesty The Fourth King Jigme Singye Wangchuk.

Tashichhodzong

Tashichhodzong, one of the oldest fortresses is serves as the seat of the Royal Government and the Central Monastic Body. Erected in 1641 and rebuilt by King Jigme Dorji Wangchuck in the 1960s, Tashichhodzong houses some ministries, His Majesty’s secretariat, and the central monk body.

The National Museum

The Naional Museum in Paro hosts arts and artefacts collected from different eras, some as old as 2000 B.C. A visit through the galleries of the National Museum will be like a travel story of our country’s transition from the primitive days of isolation to the country we are now.

Paro dzong

The fortress of Paro, also known as Rinpung Dzong houses the district’s monastic body and government’s administrative offices. This large dzong serves as one of the finest examples of the beauty and complexity of Bhutanese architecture.
